FP-230 Importing from Excel

In this course, you’ll learn how to create Import Maps to import data from various types of import files.  You’ll learn how to import data from Excel and other flat-file formats, and how to use Filters to control the imported data.  Also covered will be troubleshooting potential issues during the data import.

Instructor-Led Remote Learning with Hands-On Exercises

Current users of EVMS forProject who wish to learn how to develop Import Maps in order to import data in various layouts from Microsoft Excel or other flat files

• A Windows computer (Windows 10 or later) with internet access
• Ability to access Citrix GoToMeeting (www.gotomeeting.com)
• A modern, updated browser (e.g., Edge, Chrome or Safari)
• Ability to access the forProject Virtual Learning environment
• Completion of course (FP-100) Introduction to EVMS forProject
• Note: Two monitors are recommended, but not required

After participating in this course, you will be able to:

• Understand the capabilities in EVMS forProject to import from Excel and other flat file formats
• Create Import Maps to map data from various import file formats
• Use Conditional Expressions in the Import Maps
• Import data into your Project using a saved Import Map
• Use filters to control the data that is imported
• Save your Import Map to a file to share with other users or projects
• Open an Import Map from a saved file
• Understand advanced data import options
• Troubleshoot potential issues that may arise during data import
